Weather Watch - Types of Clouds

Stratus

These clouds look like big grey sheets that cover or block out the blue sky. These clouds are flat and spread out all over the sky.

Cirrus

These clouds are very high in the sky and look like wispy curls of white hair. These clouds are light and curly.

Nimbus

These clouds are very tall “black” storm clouds. They bring thunderstorms, wind, rain, and sometimes hail.

Cumulus

These clouds look like cotton balls floating in the sky. These are the clouds you most often see. They are always moving in the sky.
